We did this first cake in a “Baroque Style” LOOOVVEE IT! It’s huge, seven tiers all decorated in ivory and gold fondant. Carrie detailed the whole thing with little pearls, and one beautiful, ivory peony right in the center tier! 

Hmmm, I wonder what pieces I got to help with?? LOL! I guess this close up will just have to help you see my little details a little better.

One of our popular cakes this year was a 4 tier square cake with a cherry blossom branch winding up the front of the cake, so we took that idea and gave it a muted taupe color and added soft green blossoms.

Yellow seems to be an incredibly popular color so, we created another cake of square and petal shapes in a soft yellow fondant… Then Carrie used the Cricut Cake to make the shapes and finally they piped over the top of them in a stark white.

The bridal shows can be a ton of fun. It is so exciting to have the swarms of women around you all excited about their wedding plans. It’s funny how you can start a conversation with one simple question… “So, when is the BIG DAY?” and the bride will go on and on in excitement telling you all about the colors, themes, dresses, flowers etc etc… they might be hectic but I can’t wait until next years shows!

As most of you know whether your a bride or fellow cake designer, the bridal shows in your area really help get your exposure out the to the upcoming bride and grooms.  And every year as a designer you have to come up with new cake designs that will hopefully be received well by the future clients…

Sometimes at Carrie’s we try to come up with a new look we think will WOW the bride, and sometimes we like to rely on a classic, good ol’ favorite. This year was NOT the year for our “good ol’ favs!”  Here are some pics I took while at the show at the Salt Palace in downtown Salt Lake City…….

A couple were designs that we did over the summer, they were a big hit around the bakery so we decided to incorporate them into the show cakes… OH YEAH, I have to mention, we would love to customize anything with names or monograms. We made a cake for the Log Haven booth and got a lot of response from everyone because we were able to put the restaurant name on the cake.

I also wanted to remind any of our perspective brides you can change anything about the cakes, size, shape and color. Enjoy the new pictures! Have a SPECTACULAR DAY!

I remember meeting with the bride, Kassi and her family for the BEST part of wedding planning….

THE TASTING, she was a doll…  She we are so glad she came to us for  her cake…  Kassi wanted her cake smothered in gold pearls, on top of a white fondant cake. Perfect!
